This book is about owning and celebrating your highly sensitive, empathic nature for the gift it truly is to society and to the planet。 Highly sensitive empathic people carry huge amounts of inner light because they see life through the eyes of compassion and caring。 Always。 They were born that way。 But it’s also a manual for how to repair your wounded self-esteem and self-worth and step out of the victim role that you may have been assigned in your family of origin。 Or by society。

And most importantly, this book will assist you in identifying and warding off the most common types of energy vampires who feed on your energy and make you susceptible to health, emotional, and financial problems。 Here you will find explicit instructions for how to identify and separate from energy vampires so that they are no longer using your energy to fuel their dysfunctional lives。 The end result is this。 You will find yourself healthier, happier, wealthier, and more vibrant than you ever believed possible。

I learned a lot about myself reading this book! I would definitely recommend checking this one。

I was quite impressed with this book! Dr。 Northrup shares healing science that pertains to all - not just empaths - as well as techniques。I appreciated the research cited in this book, along with concepts written in other books。 I’ve added many to my reading list!

Brilliant book and very relevant to me。 Love the idea of cutting off vampires as it has changed my life for the better。 Not for everyone, but if you ever found yourself in the situations described, it is very helpful。

I enjoyed this read and found several of her points helpful。 As a clinical mental health therapist, I do not agree with her view that there are just tons of narcissists out there preying on empaths。 There are definitely a lot of people with narcissistic tendencies, but really there are very few true narcissists in the world。 I also do not believe narcissists are evil, most were neglected in childhood。 As empaths, it is our responsibility to learn to hold strong boundaries。 We cannot save these p I enjoyed this read and found several of her points helpful。 As a clinical mental health therapist, I do not agree with her view that there are just tons of narcissists out there preying on empaths。 There are definitely a lot of people with narcissistic tendencies, but really there are very few true narcissists in the world。 I also do not believe narcissists are evil, most were neglected in childhood。 As empaths, it is our responsibility to learn to hold strong boundaries。 We cannot save these people from their pain, AND we can’t blame others and label them as narcissists because of our own lack of boundaries。 I do believe empaths are a light in the world, but that does not mean we are perfect ourselves。As a therapist trained in somatic and attachment focused EMDR, I particularly enjoyed the last few chapters that gave excellent tips on how to care for the body emotionally。 Allopathic care still separates the body-mind。 I saw some reviews that were not fans of her points on this。 Please look up some peer reviewed articles on adverse childhood experiences or read the book by trauma researcher Bessel van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score。 The body absolutely holds onto trauma and will make you sick if you do not find a way to get it out。 My last point is that if you are set in religious beliefs you will not enjoy this book。 She does believe in past lives and other things that may be labeled as “new age”。 (Even though a lot of “new age” beliefs have been around longer than formed religions。) 。。。more

It's useful for someone who is actively being attacked by energy vampires, but it's a little wordy and repetitive。 And at this point in my life not as useful。 It's useful for someone who is actively being attacked by energy vampires, but it's a little wordy and repetitive。 And at this point in my life not as useful。 。。。more

The first half of this book and the way she described a highly sensitive person feeling so much around them felt very “me”, very familiar。 There were some good tidbits on recognizing energy vampires by their behaviors, yet something was missing from the book and I can’t quite place it。 Finished it in 2 days, mainly because the first half was good but then I pretty much skimmed the rest。

Finished 6/5/2022。 The title was in my opinion, misleading as it did not really provide any tactics to evade these energy vampires。 It focused more on the problems of being empathic and/or a highly sensitive person。 I disagreed with many statements, for example the author claimed empaths are not good fighters。 I disagree, I would say I am an empath and I’ve been a police officer in patrol for the last 20 years, highly decorated too。 I will say it was challenging, but it definitely can be done。 A Finished 6/5/2022。 The title was in my opinion, misleading as it did not really provide any tactics to evade these energy vampires。 It focused more on the problems of being empathic and/or a highly sensitive person。 I disagreed with many statements, for example the author claimed empaths are not good fighters。 I disagree, I would say I am an empath and I’ve been a police officer in patrol for the last 20 years, highly decorated too。 I will say it was challenging, but it definitely can be done。 Another disagreement I had was that the broad claim that empaths are here to heal the world, and that we were put here for some great purpose。 I disagree。 I think the world is all about chaos and that there is no great purpose。 An empath can offer healing, it can serve a purpose, but I don’t believe in divine direction。 。。。more

There's gotta be books out there that cover the topic of empaths and managing your personality/trait, similiar to this one。。。but good books。 As other reviewers have mentioned, this title is too New Age for my liking。 This book could be the makings of a cult with its specific terminology and juju。 Too much woo-woo。 I'm pretty sure I may have tried this one before。 DNF, will not finish。 There's gotta be books out there that cover the topic of empaths and managing your personality/trait, similiar to this one。。。but good books。 As other reviewers have mentioned, this title is too New Age for my liking。 This book could be the makings of a cult with its specific terminology and juju。 Too much woo-woo。 I'm pretty sure I may have tried this one before。 DNF, will not finish。 。。。more

Are energy sucking vampires real? Absolutely。 I have no problem believing in that。 But this book? Total rubbish。 Ugh。

At first I was somewhat sceptical of the term "empath" as I do not like using language to strictly categorize people。 However, I now think the terminology is incredibly useful for those of us who knowingly or unknowingly allow others to take too much from us。 This book enabled me to identify issues with personal boundaries in my life。 At first I was somewhat sceptical of the term "empath" as I do not like using language to strictly categorize people。 However, I now think the terminology is incredibly useful for those of us who knowingly or unknowingly allow others to take too much from us。 This book enabled me to identify issues with personal boundaries in my life。 。。。more

I like this more than I thought I would :)It's much more spiritual than I thought, which I enjoyed。 It's all about avoiding people who drain you of your positive energy and use it against you。 It's about how to overcome being an energy vampire and to grow。 It's about improving your awareness。 It's having proper values in place to not get taken advantage of。 It's about how to take care of your spirituality。 There's high and low frequency traits that if people have low frequency traits like envy, I like this more than I thought I would :)It's much more spiritual than I thought, which I enjoyed。 It's all about avoiding people who drain you of your positive energy and use it against you。 It's about how to overcome being an energy vampire and to grow。 It's about improving your awareness。 It's having proper values in place to not get taken advantage of。 It's about how to take care of your spirituality。 There's high and low frequency traits that if people have low frequency traits like envy, guilt, fear then we should not associate ourselves with them because it's like a poison and can affect us too。As an empath we feel the joys, sorrows and fear etc that others are feeling, this is why it's so important for us to not hang around low frequency people。 It can actually affect your health, you can take on their illness yourself just because your so empathic。 。。。more

More than anything, this book contains validations that you’re not alone in feeling the way you do。 I agree that it is too new-agey and fluffy, and none of the info was really revolutionary。 Loved the garlic designs on the inside cover。

This book was like 100+。 Not only does it tell you how to get rid of emotional vampires but also energy drains such as getting iodine, and cutting out sugar。 This week I plan to look over my notes and work with some of the affirmations and techniques。

Forget garlic and crosses inn your fight against vampires This is the book you need to recognise and neutralise the life blood sucking creatures in your life and get back to be a full healthy red blooded human。 It’s a holistic perspective, it shows why some of us can be vampire magnets and how to stop, it gives the tough love lessons to empathy to stop feeding those who choose to just rob others of their energy to feel good, and become Super Empaths with a vampire proof immune system。

I gave it 3 stars but took away 1 because the author is an anti-vaxxer。 I can not see how not getting routine and life saving shots is a bad thing。 When you are talking about things like Polio and COVID-19 just to name two。 I understand that this book came out before COVID19。 And I also gave a low rating because the author is a bit woo woo and out there。 Now I do believe in the out there stuff but the way this author talked about it was a bit weird。 Talking about using Archangel Michael's Sword I gave it 3 stars but took away 1 because the author is an anti-vaxxer。 I can not see how not getting routine and life saving shots is a bad thing。 When you are talking about things like Polio and COVID-19 just to name two。 I understand that this book came out before COVID19。 And I also gave a low rating because the author is a bit woo woo and out there。 Now I do believe in the out there stuff but the way this author talked about it was a bit weird。 Talking about using Archangel Michael's Sword of Blue Cobalt and using the violet flame。 Oh, and blessing your food if you can't get organic or the best foods for your body。 It's a bit like Marie Condo telling us to take everything out of our purses and thanking it for its service, or whatever。 But there are a lot of good ideas and reasoning in this book that I did like。 So maybe not so bad of a book as some of the reviewers thought。I wrote down a few notes while reading this book。page 8 - The author talks about how empaths can't watch scary or violent movies or tv shows。 Sorry but those are some of my favorites。 I know they are pretend and are using fake everything to get the right visuals。 Now tv news and real events are what I can't handle。 page 19 - Words do indeed hurt。 I was told when I was young that I was fat。 Hardly。 I am now because those words and others put me in such a bad way that that is what ended up happening。 page 91 - Yes, I am definitely at the stage of indifference。page 98 - Great part in the book。 Be "empowered in the negative"。 Say no。 If someone asks you to do something for them and you get that sinking feeling or your gut wants to scream no - say no。 It's not the end of the world if you don't help someone。 In fact, you may be saving yourself。page 100 - Continuing with that theme - say "I simply can't"。 No explanation needed。 page 101 - "Love is toxic to a toxic person"。 Wow, a great statement。page 108 - Ok here is an example of the woo-woo-ness of the book。 I understand the pat on the back thing, to help you but one example is "I chewed my food beautifully today and just loved the taste。 I'm an amazing self-nurturer"。 Yes, those are actual words in the book。page 114 - "*Person* you f**cking bastard。 I forgive you Fuck you for all the pain and suffering you have caused me。 And I send you on you path of healing away。" There I fixed it。 page 114 - Here is where you use the Archangel Michael's Sword。 And on the same page - I like the idea the author has of using strong swear words because they are indeed powerful。page 117 - the author wants the readers to google violet flame。 I haven't done it yet but I think it is about how to use the flame。page 173 - Sugar is 8x more addictive than heroin or other opiates。 I don't know about all that but I do know that I am addicted to sugar and for the past year I have been eating a low carb diet and I keep my sugar intake to 10-15 grams a day。 It's been hard, especially grocery shopping and you see all those Little Debbie cakes。 Those were my weakness。page 183 - The biggie。 The author says to carefully consider whether or not to get "routine" vaccines like flu, pneumonia, and shingles。 She says all vaccines are filled with toxic substances especially if you are an empath。 She says you know how to heal yourself so you don't need vaccines。 So I suggest you take her words with a grain of salt。 。。。more

I forced myself to read this book despite how shallow it is until I came to page 134。 This is when I decided Dr。 Northrup is dangerous。 If you believe Northrup, and you are a survivor of rape, you have to heal not only yourself, but your entire family line including deceased family members。 Fail in this task, your children will be raped。 The victim named in Northrup's book is "Samantha" and she is guilty of being "not conscious of the power of inherited trauma。" Shame on her, then, not the rapis I forced myself to read this book despite how shallow it is until I came to page 134。 This is when I decided Dr。 Northrup is dangerous。 If you believe Northrup, and you are a survivor of rape, you have to heal not only yourself, but your entire family line including deceased family members。 Fail in this task, your children will be raped。 The victim named in Northrup's book is "Samantha" and she is guilty of being "not conscious of the power of inherited trauma。" Shame on her, then, not the rapist! This is insane thinking。 Honestly, this book should be on some kind of banned book list for antiquated victim-blaming and shaming ideas。 This book is going into the trash can。 It will not be donated or resold or circulated in any form due to the insanity of the ideas。 I would be shocked if Dr。 Northrup still has a license to practice any kind of medicine or counseling。 She needs to just stop writing and speaking and leave the world alone。 --AW 。。。more

however, I find the extent she did include them in this book pretty excessive。 For example, some readers who might need the book’s core message the most could instead be so turned off by her frequent references to past lives or mystical, unconventional healing techniques that they don’t value the other information, or they may walk away entirely。 In this sense, if Northrup truly believes in the universality of her message and desires to help as many as possible, she should’ve catered her writing to a broader audience。 2。 The person who recommended this book warned me about the disturbing amount of victim mentality that saturates the writing。 Please don’t misunderstand, I absolutely do acknowledge the validity of past traumas, and I do agree with the likelihood that the majority of empaths are good people with genuine intentions。 However, the consistent portrayal of empaths as only advanced, otherworldly, starseed-type light workers on some divine mission to heal the world rubs me the wrong way。 I just think that we all have flaws we must acknowledge and work through at some point, and we all should feel called to goodness, using our interests and talents to make the world a better place。 Empaths are real, yes, but so is an immaturity that prevents us from navigating relationships with discernment。 We must learn how to distinguish one from the other。 Identifying as an empath does not excuse someone from self-examination and a healthy dose of humility。 。。。more
